Messi admits he will put Neymar and Mbappe in the top 2 positions in his Ballon d’Or 2021 vote
The familiar names on the list are still present, including the two most successful super players in this prestigious awards ceremony, Lionel Messi and Critstiano Ronaldo. Accompanying them on this list are Robert Lewandowski, Neymar, Erling Haaland and 2018 winner, Luka Modric.
Notable names, or what can be called the factors that make up the color of this year’s competition, include young Barca star Pedri, Euro 2020 champions Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci and even Simon Kjaer , the hero of Christian Eriksen’s cardiac arrest this past summer.
With what has happened in the past year, Messi is of course still considered a strong candidate for the winning position. Accordingly, he is facing the opportunity to break his own record and become the first player in world football history to win 7 Golden Balls in his career. The basis for El Pulga to believe this is the Copa America championship just won with Argentina.
And after the list of 30 candidates for the Golden Ball 2021 was released, Messi expressed his intention to vote. Speaking to France Football, Messi has confirmed that he will put two names on top of his head: PSG team-mates Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
“In my team (PSG), there are two people that I can easily choose to vote for – Ney and Kylian without thinking.”
There are so many stars that Messi will have to consider carefully before closing the vote
But the Argentine superstar did not stop there. And Messi also hinted that he would consider the incredible efforts of two veteran strikers Robert Lewandowski and Karim Benzema in the calendar year 2021.
“And then there’s, Robert Lewandowski, who’s had a great year. Karim Benzema too, he’s had a fantastic 2021 as well.”
“We all know the importance of team titles too.”
