Manchester United are keeping a keen eye on AS Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, according to L’Equipe.
The Red Devils are likely to sign a defensive midfielder next year, and Tchouameni has emerged as a potential candidate.
Tchouameni only recently made his international debut, but he has shone alongside Pogba in multiple games for France.
United are growing confident of renewing Pogba’s deal, and they could reunite him with his compatriot when the transfer window reopens.
The club’s initial plans were to sign a holding midfielder next summer, but they may have to accelerate their pursuit amid competition.
Tchouameni has also emerged as a target for Juventus while Chelsea are also long-term admirers. They were linked with him this summer.
The duo could enter a bidding battle in January. Monaco are open to sanctioning the midfielder’s exit for around £34 million.
Meanwhile, reports elsewhere claim that Donny van de Beek will push for a winter exit from United amid his lack of league minutes.
