Before the match against Arsenal, coach Thomas Tuchel confirmed that midfielder Christian Pulisic had tested positive for COVID-19.
Midfielder Pulisic did not train with Chelsea in recent training sessions. This makes many Blues fans question marks.
In the press conference before the match against Arsenal, coach Thomas Tuchel clarified the reason. Specifically, Pulisic has tested positive for COVID-19.
The German strategist succinctly: “Pulisic’s problem is easy to explain. He is positive for COVID-19. Right now he is not healthy enough to train and compete.”

As such, Pulisic will have to undergo medical isolation in accordance with regulations in the coming days. He can only return to training with Chelsea when he tests negative for COVID-19.
Obviously, this is unfortunate for the American midfielder. In the last 2 matches against Villareal and Crystal Palace, Pulisic both started. Chelsea’s No 10 scored a goal in a 3-0 win over Crystal Palace.
Without Pulisic, Chelsea still has many quality options on attack such as Kai Havertz, Mason Mount… and notably the return of Hakim Ziyech. The 28-year-old was injured in the European Super Cup match against Villareal but was able to train with the whole team.
Arsenal vs Chelsea match takes place at 22:30 on August 22 (Vietnam time).
Chelsea are expressing an interest in Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez in the closing days of the 2021 summer transfer window.
During a recent training session, an overzealous Chelsea fan turned on the loudspeaker and shouted a message demanding to expel striker Timo Werner.
After all, striker Romelu Lukaku will officially choose to wear the number 9 shirt at Chelsea instead of the number 18 as originally rumored.
