Lukaku appreciates Serie A more than the Premier League by 2 points

“Tactically and technically, the Italian league is of a higher quality than the English one. In England it’s all about the intensity of the ball. That makes a difference but I don’t feel it’s a problem because I used to be. I’ve been here for eight years and I’m not new,” Lukaku told Chelsea’s homepage.

“I understand this league and have scored a lot of goals while playing in England. Of course, that’s in the past and now we need to look forward. But I’m a better version of myself than I am. myself.

I always try to master all the qualities that are required in a striker. But I still hope I can improve on a few small details and continue to work on my strengths.

At this point, I just need to learn a little more about my new teammates and new coach. I hope I can be ready to play as soon as possible.”

In eight seasons playing in the Premier League (from 2011/12 to 2018/19 with Chelsea, West Brom, Everton and Manchester United), Lukaku scored 113 goals in 252 appearances.

During his two seasons in Serie A under Inter Milan (seasons 2019/20 and 2020/21), the Belgian star scored 47 goals in 72 matches and helped the Nerazzuri win the Scudetto last season.

In the “boot-shaped country”, Lukaku scored 0.65 goals/match. The scoring performance of the striker born in 1993 in the “fog country” reached 0.45 goals/match.

Lukaku only needs two seasons in Italy to add the Serie A title to his trophy collection. But during nearly a decade of playing in England, the former Anderlecht striker has never experienced the feeling of lifting the Premier League trophy. Now, Lukaku has just returned to Stamford Bridge to help Chelsea do just that.
