The 28-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham United, scoring nine goals and providing five assists in 16 appearances for the Hammers.
Lingard has returned to Manchester United this summer and is preparing to play Southampton in the Premier League on Sunday, after recovering from COVID-19.
However, West Ham continue to be linked with the England international, amid speculation that he is open to leaving for a fee of £25m.
According to The Times, Lingard will continue to look for a way out before the transfer window ends unless he is promised a regular start by Manchester United under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season.
The versatile England international scored in United’s closed-door friendly against Burnley at Old Trafford on Tuesday, with less than a year left to fulfill his current contract with the 20-time English champions.
Not long ago, West Ham goalkeeper Darren Randolph also sent a message to midfielder Lingard’s to urge him to return to the east London team.
